A Winter Courthouse Wedding, Brigham City, Utah, January 16, 2026
Brent & Anne Marie
It was a beautiful and sunny day, with a temperature of 39', the perfect day for a winter wedding in the great state of Utah. Not too many clouds in the sky, but the best day for this stunning bride and groom. They wanted an intimate wedding with their closest family and friends to be apart of their special day. The bride and groom selected to get married at the Box Elder County Courthouse, located in Brigham City, in the heart of down town on Main St. It's one of the prettiest buildings with it's unique architecture and gothic style. Built in 1855-1856, the amount of history alone in this building is enough to get lost in for a few hours if you were ever curious on the history of Box Elder County.
We began the day with some stunning bridals of the bride alone outside on the steps of the building that lead to the front door. With that we opened the door to find a stunning staircase and captured the bride in her gorgeous wedding glow. Her dress was simply stunning, the buttons on the back were the perfect added touch to an elegant gown. The bridal bouquet was filled blush, white, and nudes tones with the bride wearing the cutest boots to finish off her wedding look and the sparkly nails, the perfect touch. While inside the building, we used the lighting being spilled in from the front entry window to capture those raw moments, those nerves before meeting up with her groom who was waiting for her just outside the courthouse, dressed in a suit and blush tie, her groom is also stunning for his big day.
I met with the groom outside, captured a few looks and set him up for him and his bride to do a "First Look". Now these are planned, private moments before the big moment between the couple. I have seen everything from songs being written to private vows being spoken softly in between tears of joy and those subtle but intimate kisses. These are often away from guests and in a secluded area where the couple and photographer gather for this genuine reaction, creating emotional images that could reduce the need for these photos later on. It's truly a precious moment. Today's moment was just that; the photos are full proof of this moment. I will forever be a lover of those first look captures.
With family and couple's photos done, it was time to head to the county clerk's office and pick up the license. We made our way downstairs to the basement of the building (which happens to be the oldest part of the building, it's not that spooky, I promise.) I captured Anne Marie and Brent filling out the paperwork for the license and captured the sweetest photos of them discussing what to fill out and what's next after they are married in just a few minutes. From there, we made our way upstairs to the main office, where we met with both the bride and groom's families for the big moment. It's time! We filed into the Commissioner's office, I fixed my settings because I wasn't prepared for how bright that room was. Brent and Anne Marie took center stage, repeated their vows, exchanged rings and became Mr. and Mrs. once and for all. The sweetest exchange of vows and rings, followed by the smooch for a life time, and the signing of the license to make it all legal, it all came down to those moments and it was such an honor for me to have captured their big day.
I had the family follow the bride and groom outdoors for some family photos captured in the mid-day sun (I know, crazy right) but I am loving the outcome of these gorgeous afternoon elopement captures. This courthouse wedding is one for the books. Such a great couple and fun family, we captured some stunning photos and even got to enjoy a warmer winter day. The happy couple will be residing in Clearfield after a fun and gorgeous honeymoon to Park City, Utah. Thank you so much to my couple for allowing and trusting me to capture their big day.
